About This Competition

The Ford Popular was built in England between 1953 and 1962. This was a car of the people and when launched was the cheapest available car on the market. Consequently the huge numbers sold bear out the Ford Pop’s appeal as affordable post war transport to a population with growing aspirations.

Nostalgia for these little vehicles makes this car hugely collectable and there are many who will remember these cars, back in the day, having had fathers, grandfathers, uncles or aunts that owned a Ford “Pop”. Good original cars are rapidly increasing in value and this one is such with absolutely no corrosion or rot being all present and correct. We think it may have been repainted at some point as the paint is in such great condition. There are certainly no rust spots whatsoever and the matching wheels and chrome hubcaps are all in wonderful fettle. Mechanically there is nothing wanting and the sidevalve engine runs smoothly with the three forward speed gearbox operating perfectly.

This car was first registered on 11^th March 1955 and in summary it starts, runs, drives and stops exactly as it should with a no-nonsense feeling of solid reliability. It will make excellent transport for a Sunday picnic or a trip to the local rally field. What’s not to like?
