This car has captured all our hearts here at Vintage and Classic and there’s going to be one very satisfied winner of this vehicle.
All in all this car is a masterclass in engineering with the engine mounted low down in the bodywork so there are no ugly power bulges in the bonnet. The only nod to it being a wolf in sheep’s clothing is a discreet V8 badge on the front grill and of course that V8 soundtrack from the back.
It is a proper gentleman’s express and looks and drives superbly. Totally at home in modern traffic it has an upgraded back axle, brakes and suspension to match the increase in power and painted in Ford Radiant Red it has a new leather interior, hood and a tonneau cover. The brand new alloy Minilite wheels are shod with Yokohama rubber. We absolutely love this car for its understated brilliance and of course the beautiful noise it makes!
Originally ordered by a US dealer, this MGB was built in August 1977 and then shipped to America in October 1977. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that it was Carmine Red with a black interior, a black hood and equipped with Rostyle wheels and a tonneau cover. At that time it would have been left-hand-drive and fitted with the bulbous black rubber bumpers.
It then travelled back across the pond and was registered in the UK in 1986, gaining the correct age-related number plate.
In 2016 it was treated to an extensive restoration by a marque specialist. The MGB was taken back to bare metal and resprayed in Ford Radiant Red, with the build photos detailing that the work was carried out to an exceptionally high standard. At this time it was also converted to right hand drive.
The restoration was extensive and involved removing the four-cylinder engine and fitting a Rover V8 of 3,528cc that was supplied by MG V8 specialist Clive Wheatley.
There is a full photographic record of the work carried out.
The work was completed in May 2016 and since that time has covered less than 3000 miles. The mileometer was zeroed at that time and shows the recorded mileage since restoration.
You will not be disappointed with this car, it is as good as it gets!
